Workshop: Curating Affirming Learning Environments for Immigrant Youth
Tuesday, October 30 | 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM
This workshop is for adults working with immigrant youth of all ages in educational or community settings. This workshop is rooted in the understanding that one of the most important and tangible ways that we can support immigrant communities is through intentionally creating environments that are explicitly welcoming of immigrant experiences. The purpose of this workshop is for participants to collectively reflect on and share ways that they can make their spaces more immigrant friendly.
Participants will think through the ways that an immigrant affirming space has a positive influence on the academic achievement and success of immigrant youth, and will walk away with a list/plan of at least three tangible practices they incorporate to their respective settings immediately or in the near future.
