Friendly ping pong tournament benefits Big Brothers Big Sisters of NYC
NEW YORK (FOX 5 NY) - With paddles in their hands and their eyes on the ball, finance professionals duked it out at a charity ping pong tournament in Grand Central Terminal on Thursday.
The event benefits Big Brothers Big Sisters of NYC, the mentoring program.
The quick-paced match is held in partnership with J.P. Morgan.
Matching one underprivileged child or teen with a mentor for their first year costs $3,500, according to the organizers. The money goes towards hiring caseworkers and transportation for field trips.
This tournament is in its 11th year. It happens every January, which is National Mentoring Month. The goal isn't just to raise awareness and funds for this organization but to shed light on the importance of mentoring across the country.
