A youth mentoring organization opens a new location in Queens.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of NYC celebrated the opening of its new office on 37th Avenue in Jackson Heights Thursday.

The organization helps "at-risk" youth by pairing them with volunteer mentors.

Organizers say having a location in the borough allows them to better meet the needs of the children they serve.

"Just by having that role model, these kids do so much better. They get along better with their families, they get along better with their peers, they do better in school, " said Hector Batista of Big Brothers Big Sisters.

"It's been very important to me. I've realize that my grades have gotten a lot better and my academic career has really improved a lot," said "Little Brother" Spencer Ford.

The organization is always looking for more volunteers. For more information, visit www.bigsnyc.org
