Spending time together with your "Little"
does not necessarily mean spending money. In fact, the most important
thing about your time together is just being together. Following
is a list of some simple, everyday activities that could be more
fun when you include a child:
- Show your best card trick and teach it to your
"Little".
- Walk the dog together, even in the rain
- Work on an arts and crafts project together
- Create a new recipe together
- Wash and wax the car
- Tell jokes, just talk, and listen
Suggested OUTDOOR Activities:
- Fly kites on a windy day
- Have a picnic with your favorite foods
- Play Frisbee
- Play a sport (basketball, soccer, tennis, rollerblading,
catch)
- Build and paint a birdhouse
- Go fishing
- Bring two disposable cameras to a fun place and
each take photos. Develop and compare perspectives
- Participate in a run/walk event for a good cause
- Go on a “"Big" or “"Little"
hunt and collect all things
with the words "Big" or "Little" on them
- Collect leaves on a fall day
- Feed the ducks at a pond
- Go for a bike ride in the park
- Learn to rollerblade, roller skate or ice skate
- Watch boats at the pier or a waterside park
- Go on a photo scavenger hunt where you create
a list together, and your “"Little" takes the
photographs
- Make a bug cage and catch bugs together
Suggested NEIGHBORHOOD Activities
- Participate in a community service activity to
show
your "Little" the importance of giving back
- Take a walk and learn the neighborhood.
When you get back, draw a map
- Make a lemonade stand or a hot cocoa stand
- learn basic business principles
- Try to find seven different types of trees, then
try to
identify them all
- Teach your "Little" about the different
parts of a car
