Emily: A "Little" Replies
A couple of months ago, I got assigned into a Big Bro/Big Sister program. As a few weeks went by, I went on a meeting to see my big sister. I felt really excited, but then I felt really nervous. When I met her, we talked about all our hobbies that we liked to do. The problem was that my mother wasn't there. So I nagged my brother and my uncle to come with me to see my new big sister, and it worked. I got them to come. After that, everything went well. A week later, my mom had came to see my big sister. We didn't really know each other that much. Our social worker wanted to take a picture of us. We felt so uncomfortable, but we took the picture, and it came out nice. But we still felt uncomfortable until the first time when we went out by ourselves to Sony Wonder, without the social worker or my parents. The second time, we went to Laser Tag, and we had such a fun time. We were so happy, laughing, and we ate ice cream at a café. There was another problem. It started raining and we didn't have an umbrella. Every problem has a solution. The fourth time we went out we went ice skating. I was so mad 'cause I couldn't skate. And, of course, I was holding my weight on Kathy (my big sister) because she could skate and I couldn't. It was so boring! And remember, this is not skating, this is ice skating. I didn't want to show in my expression that I was mad. I tried to look happy, but I was disgraced. But there was another problem. That was I kept falling on the ice. The fifth time we went out was a pottery place. It was so nice. I painted a plate for my mom. It came out nice, but there was a problem. It was too colorful and it got smudged a little. After pottery, we got a couple of pizzas, but there was another problem. My leg hurt, and we had to take a cab all the way from Manhattan to Brooklyn. The sixth time we went out, we went rowboating. I loved it so much, and there wasn't a problem. The seventh time, my big sister came to my mother's housewarming. She came and she made "sand cake." It was good, and I've still got those chocolates. Yummy, yummy, yummy. After, we got our nails done. But there was a problem. The problem was it cost too much at the first place we went to. But the second place, I seemed to know everybody. It was so cool, the whole time we were talking, laughing, happy, and joking. And it was so, so nice. My cousin and Kathy got a manicure and I got tips. Kathy got a beautiful design on hers and I got a beautiful hand-painting on mine. After that, Kathy had to leave and I was really sad. But we got food in our stomachs and I stopped being sad. Yummy, yummy. The next time was my graduation. Kathy came early and she saw me get dressed and put on all my dainty stuff. She was so happy and my mother was so happy. When I put on my dress and took out my curls and all that, everything came out really well. Until my feet were hurting because I was wearing my first pair of heels. And that's it. That's some of the things that happened between me and my big sister.
