Title: Part-time bi-lingual Case Manager

Description: Part-time bi-lingual Case Manager (must speak both Cantonese and Mandarin) responsible for managing a high caseload of mentoring relationships. Late afternoon/Evening hours Mondays - Thursdays. Occasional Saturdays. 12 - 15 hours per week. Provide supervision, family support, referrals, and advocacy. Experience working with at-risk children and families. Excellent verbal, written and time management skills, detail oriented, ability to work independently, and multi-task in a fast paced environment. Applicants looking for long-term p/t position.

Title: Administrative Assistant (1 P/T position and 1 F/T position available)
Program: Traditional and Special Priorities Department
Reports to: Director
Responsibilities: In a confidential capacity, assist Directors and Program Staff in various projects of the daily operation of the Department.

  • Administrative Tasks- database entry, typing, mailings, filing, copying, faxing, writing letters, phone calls and follow up, scheduling of meetings, procuring supplies and producing layout of department flyers. Maintain department forms- updates and changes, keep track of cameras and digital photographs.

  • Database Management - update records on routine basis, add new clients, generate mailing labels, assist with statistical reports, demographic and outcome tracking.

  • Special Events Coordination - Assist with Agency and Department group events for youth, parents and volunteers. Planning and set up for various meetings, keep minutes, RSVP lists, order and set up refreshments.

  • Public Liaison - field phone calls from donors, interested volunteers and families, Coordinate mailings to Bigs and Families, handle returned mail and miscellaneous departmental mail; Assist with coordination of In-Kind Donations and Ticket distribution.

  • Volunteer Network- Help support and maintain department email listserves.

  • Other responsibilities as assigned.


  • Requirements:
    Education: Bachelor's Degree

    Experience: 2 years administrative experience; Database & file management, Mailings, Event Planning/Coordination, Interaction with volunteers and families.

    Skills: Excellent computer skills (Word, Excel, Access) Must be organized & possess excellent communication, interpersonal skills

    Languages: Bi-lingual English and Spanish

Title: Director of Institutional Giving
Classification: Exempt

Description: Big Brothers Big Sisters of New York City seeks an experienced development professional to lead its institutional giving program. The Director of Institutional Giving will report to the Chief Development Officer and lead a dedicated team to secure foundation and government support for the leading mentoring organization in the country.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Minimum of five years of relevant experience with a demonstrated track record of securing
  • high level institutional support.
  • Candidate must demonstrate exceptional interpersonal, organizational, oral communication and written communication skills

Responsibilities:
  • Retain and grow existing portfolio of foundation and government partnerships; steward and solicit prospects to secure and grow new funding.
  • Manage complete grant cycle process: write high quality grant applications and proposals including budgets and prepare other materials as needed: reports, letters of intent, program briefs, etc.; manage submission process and follow-up.
  • Prospect research and identification:
  • Developing a regularly updated list of institutional funding prospects for circulation to the Board of Trustees for contact identification.
  • Tracking, developing strategies, preparing submissions and follow-up on all contacts resulting from the Board list.
  • Acknowledgement and recognition of gifts.
  • Assist with other Development Department activities as assigned.

Requirements:
  • Superior writing and prospect research skills, with a proven track record of success
  • Strong time-management skills and ability to work efficiently and effectively in a deadline-driven, fast-paced environment
  • Knowledge of the New York City philanthropic community.
  • Excellent computer skills: proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint is required; experience with Raiser's Edge database is preferred

Title: Sales Recruitment Manager

Description: Big Brothers Big Sisters of New York City, a 107 year-old organization providing mentors to disadvantaged youth, seeks a dynamic, energetic, detail-oriented manager with proven success in sales/ marketing and/or new business cultivation for a salaried, full-time temporary (6 month position April -October 2012) position supporting the Development Department in their execution and growth of the agency's largest fundraising event, the Big Brothers Big Sisters of NYC Race for the Kids.

The Big Brothers Big Sisters of NYC (BBBS) Race for the Kids was founded six years ago to raise critical funds and awareness for BBBS of NYC's mentoring programs. Now entering its eighth year, Race for the Kids has grown into New York City's largest family fun run/walk and proudly serves as the New York City headquarters for Nickelodeon's Worldwide Day of Play.

The Recruitment Manager will be responsible for direct outreach to local and regional employers, community groups and universities as well as oversight of a core outreach team and management of new partnerships with the goal of increasing Race for the Kids event participation and sponsorship. The Recruitment Manager will report to the Director of Special Events and will liaise with members of the Development team and agency Directors as needed to ensure that all staff members are appropriately trained, supported and monitored in their efforts to grow Race for the Kids.


Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Responsible for successful management of large-scale special-event outreach project
  • Proven success in sales/ marketing and/or new business cultivation
  • Project oriented, hard-working, dynamic, energetic, detail-oriented with demonstrated time management and multi-tasking ability
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; computer literacy required
  • Proven interpersonal skills, including telephone prospecting and team-building

Responsibilities:
  • Overall management of all aspects of the event campaign (as part of management team).
  • Development of strategic target prospects and lists for all staff recruiters.
  • Serve as RFK "Chief Recruiter" with a responsibility to solicit and secure 75% of team leaders.
  • Drive and engage agency recruitment staff to reach RFK team goals; develop recruitment pitch language and process, track staff call blocks, progress reports as well as overall troubleshooting.
  • Responsible to achieve a large number of new corporate targets attend the June Corporate Kick-off Breakfast. Work with recruitment team to secure target mailing list, RSVPs, etc.
  • Manage training and motivate recruitment team for RFK outreach and serve as a key resource for all agency staff to support the fundraising growth of Race for the Kids.
  • Support RFK Team Leader packet development to ensure we convert targets into RFK team captains and increase event revenue. Post Breakfast follow up with leads to ensure team cultivation and fundraising.
  • Manage and extract data from agency Run-Walk website as needed.
  • Assist Development Department and Event Team with other tasks as needed.

This is a salaried, full-time temporary (6 month) position. Benefits are not included in this employment package.

Responsibilities: Professional Development Workshop Series

  • Organize and market professional development workshops.
  • Organize professional development conference/ symposium
  • Create a training calendar for these workshops on a tri-semester basis.
  • Recruit, screen, and schedule consultants.
  • Recruit and register participants.
  • Receive and process payments.
  • Coordinate handouts, evaluations, sign-in sheets, and table-tents.
  • Arrive one-hour prior to workshops to set-up room and welcome participants.
  • Introduce speakers and workshop facilitators.
  • Collect and analyze workshop evaluation tools.

Training Activities
  • Facilitate volunteer training sessions at Big Brothers Big Sisters of NYC.
  • Facilitate workshops for the Certificate Program and the Professional Development Workshop Series.
  • Facilitate off-site trainings on an as-needed basis.
  • Support 3-4 in-depth TA recipients (bi-weekly phone calls and consultations) each year.

Additional Activities
  • Coordinate research presentations (individual and/or panel).
  • Assist with research surveys of Center for Training participants on an as needed basis.
  • Help with administrative duties as needed.
  • Some evening and Saturdays are required.
  • Other job responsibilities as assigned.
