- About BBBS of NYC
On Saturday, November 5, 2011, Big Brothers Big Sisters of NYC will host its annual Gridiron Games— a two-part event. After fifteen years in Giants Stadium, the event will now take place at MetLife Stadium, the new $1.6 billion home of the New York Giants and New York Jets.
In the morning, over 100 children ("Littles") in our mentoring programs and their adult mentors ("Bigs") have a chance to play football on the field in MetLife Stadium.
In the afternoon, 16 of New York City’s top law firms play in a touch football tournament for the Gridiron Games Trophy.
All event proceeds support the mentoring programs of Big Brothers Big Sisters of NYC.
Morning Events
In the morning, more than 100 children in our mentoring programs and their mentors will get to participate in a magical day at MetLife Stadium, featuring child-friendly football games on the stadium field and the chance to meet the NY Jets "Flight Crew" cheerleaders.
After the games end, the children and their mentors get a tour of the team locker rooms and head to one of the Stadium's new clubs for lunch.
Following that, the "Littles" get to hear from NFL players and special guests, which in the past have included NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, New York Giants' greats Carl Banks, Sean Landeta and Steven Baker, and New York Jets' stars Joe Namath and Freeman McNeil.
